FAQ’s

  • How many sessions are in a term?

Northcote Tennis run ‘Term Based’ lesson programs. Our terms run alongside the VIC school term dates and can vary from 8-12 weeks long. Each of our programs run 1 class per week. Our term fees are based on a ‘Pro-rata’ fee per class X the amount of weeks.

  • Why do you require junior students to sign up for the whole term?

Northcote Tennis believe that students are happier and more comfortable having the same class, coach and fellow students every week for the entire term. Students also develop at a faster rate having the consistency of a regular lesson hence why we run a term based structure not a casual one. If you would like your child to have a casual lesson, you can book in a private lesson.

  • What happens if my child’s lesson falls on a public holiday?

Northcote Tennis do not run lessons on public holidays, or Saturdays that fall over a long weekend. Therefore if your class falls on a public holiday or long weekend you will not be charged for that week. This is taken into account when you enrol for the term. (ie Labour Day in March is on a Monday so all Monday lessons in term 1 have one session less than the other days and fees adjusted accordingly)

  • If my child missed some sessions, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately not. Your child has been booked in for the term into that particular lesson time and we reserve your child’s spot in the class. Please understand that we are a small business and we have to run our tennis classes regardless if you attend your group class or not, coaches get paid and court hire paid etc. In many classes we have a wait list and by booking into a class you are keeping someone from joining the group who would be able to pay a full term. PLEASE REFER TO REFUND/ MAKE UP LESSON POLICY TABLE.

  • Do I need to have my own tennis racquet?

If you do not have your own racquet we can loan you one for your lesson free of charge. We do however encourange our students to have their own racquet so they can practice outside of their lessons. If unsure of what size racquet is suitable, please talk to your coach.

  • What happens if it rains or it is boiling hot?

Sadly, we cannot play tennis in wet weather conditions due to safety reasons, nor if the heat is extreme. If a class has to be cancelled due to rain or heat, a Northcote Tennis coach will alert you of the cancellation email within 45 minutes of your class
commencing. If you dont receive and email from us then assume the class IS ON!
For term based classes, we offer a refund for a single session pro-rate fee for any lessons cancelled by us due to rain or heat.
PLEASE REFER TO REFUND/ MAKE UP LESSON POLICY TABLE.

  • What should my child bring to their lesson?

Students should wear clothing they feel comfortable in and can move freely in. Where possible we require participants to wear the correct tennis shoes (non-marking & flat soled)Please also bring a water bottle (clearly named) and a hat and sunscreen in sunny conditions.

  • I dont think my child is in the correct class or standard

Please consult your child’s coach at the end of each term to establish if they are in the correct class.
